About Profiles:

Profiles are used in The Hot Mix so if you DJ in multiple locations you can have different playlists and play stats recorded for different locations.  If you DJ at a club you can have a club profile and also you DJ for weddings you can have a profile for your wedding gigs.  Most likely the music you play at these locations will be different so why not separate the playlists to make it easier on you.

Creating Profiles:

Ok so lets create a new profile.  I will walk you through this step by step and explain in detail.

  1. First off click "Create New"
  2. Now you see some options you need to fill in.
    a.  Profile Name - This of course is the name you want to call your new profile.
    b.  Watch Folder - This is a folder on your hard drive that will have new music added regularly.  If you download or rip new CDs you can rip the albums to this directory so they will show up in your "Watch Folder" inside The Hot Mix.
    c.  Media Path -  This is the folder on your hard drive that the majority of your music is held.   This folder does not get scanned for new music and you will manually have to refresh this list to grab new additions.
  3. Ok so fill in the information.
  4. Click "Create Profile"
  5. Boom!  Your profile is now in your list of available profiles!

Note: The "Watch Folder" and the "Media Path" fields cannot be the same or even be in the same directory structure as eachother.

Profile List Columns:

So now that you have created a Profile you should have 3 colums in the list.  The colums are as follows.

  1. Name - Name of your profile.
  2. Last Used - The date you last selected this profile to load.
  3. Created - The date you created this profile.

Setting a Profile as default:

Ok so you only have the need for one profile.  Thats fine lets make it so you don't have to do this step again.  Go ahead and check the "Default" checkbox and select your profile in the list and click "Load Profile".  You will be prompted with a message box that tells you how disable this feature if you need to in the future.  For your convenience you can goto the "Config Options" inside The Hot Mix and select "Startup".  There you can disable the Auto-Run feature.

Deleting a Profile:

So you want to delete a profile?  Well if you really need to then you can do it.  Note that if you have Auto-Run enabled you will have to disable this feature to access the Profiles section to delete one.  Ok so your at the profiles.  Simply select the profile you wish to delete and click "Delete Selected".  You will prompted with these options.

  1. Do you want to remove ALL profile settings?
    a.  Yes - This will remove the Profile from the list and also delete all files associated with this profile.  Do this if don't want this profile at all anymore.  Warning this will delete everything from that Profile.  I warned you.  No going back.
    b.  No - This will remove the Profile from the list of available profiles but WILL NOT remove the files associated with it.
    c.  Cancel - Well of course this cancels the operation completely and nothing is done.

Set Location:

So you are wondering what the "Set Location" is all about.  Well this is the part that confuses most.  The "Location" is a folder on your hard drive used to store the list of Profiles and also the files associated with those profiles.  This can be changed from drive to drive as much as you want.  I'm not sure how else to explain it more.  If you need a better explanation please visit our forums and post a question.

Note:  If you have your Location set to an external hard drive and you startup "The Hot Mix" with the hard drive not connected you will receive an error that you need to set the Location profile root.  This just means that you need to cancel setting the Location and connect your hard drive to your computer and then open up The Hot Mix again.  If everything is well you will not receive the error again until of course you forget to plug your hard drive in again.
